Mechanical Design Engineer - Crane and Lifting Systems

📍 Remote - USA Only

This job demands robust lifting and mechanical handling solutions — exactly what you'll design in this role. You'll engineer high‑capacity crane structures, load‑bearing components, and precision mechanical systems that must perform under extreme duty cycles. Your work will involve advanced stress analysis, structural optimization, material selection, and the integration of hydraulic, mechanical, and control subsystems to deliver equipment that operators can trust in the field.

This is a remote role open to candidates located within the 48 contiguous United States, with occasional travel (at least 10%, approximately one week per quarter) to customer sites, fabrication facilities, or field locations.

Requirements

What You'll Do

• Lead mechanical design for cranes, lifting beams, hoists, and rigging systems
• Create 3D models & drawings in SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo
• Run FEA, load calculations, and structural analysis
• Manage projects from concept to delivery — including fabrication and field support
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, and fabrication teams
• Support testing, commissioning, and incident investigations
• Support fabrication shops and field teams across the Houston region
  
  

Must-Have Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in cranes, lifting systems, or heavy equipment

• U.S. Citizen or Green Card
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo

• Offshore, industrial, or construction lifting background
• Familiarity with gantry systems, winches, PLC-integrated equipment
• Experience writing work packs, test plans, and field documentation

• Background in offshore, industrial, or construction lifting environments
• Experience generating work packs, test reports, and technical documentation for field execution
• Familiarity with cranes, hoists, lifting beams, gantry systems, or custom rigging solutions
