The Role
We're looking for a Senior Layout Designer with exceptional document layout skills and a strong understanding of scientific content.
This is a senior, hands-on design role from concept to execution, focused on structure, hierarchy, and visual clarity - not web design and not generic slide production. You'll be responsible for designing polished, high-impact layouts for investor presentations, scientific brochures, and posters that guide the reader through complex scientific and business narratives.
You'll work closely with our content team and Creative Director to translate scientific and business information into sophisticated, conceptual visual systems - often under tight timelines.
What You'll Do
- Design investor presentations, scientific posters, brochures, and brand assets that communicate complex scientific concepts with clarity and precision
- Apply strong layout and hierarchy to guide the reader through dense scientific and business content
- Apply consistent typography and color palettes across materials
- Create icon sets, infographics, and visual systems to explain mechanisms of action and other scientific concepts across therapeutic areas
- Establish and maintain cohesive brand systems, ensuring visual consistency across all deliverables
- Collaborate closely with the content team and Creative Director to translate scientific narratives into effective visual design

Required Experience & Skills
- 7+ years of professional experience in layout design (This role is not suited for web designers or standard marketing-slide designers.)
- Exceptional command of layout fundamentals: hierarchy, balance and pacing, guiding the reader's eye through dense information
- Strong typography and iconography skills; experience building cohesive visual systems
- Proven experience designing scientific content, with a working understanding of biological terminology and concepts across various therapeutic areas
- Expert proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator
- Portfolio demonstrating senior-level layout work for scientific content
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-paced, multi-time-zone environment
Nice to Have
- Experience in an agency, studio, or multi-client environment
- Familiarity with investor-facing biotech materials
- Ability to take provided content and translate it visually with minimal direction
- Experience collaborating closely with subject-matter experts

Work Arrangement
- Project-based hourly contract to start (will become permanent part-time contract for the right candidate after testing on several projects)
- Fully remote with flexible schedule, but must be available during the work week for calls with Pacific time zone and quick turnaround (we turn edits from one day to the next)
