About the Role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and operating a robust corporate data lake and contributing to the evolution of a future AWS-based data warehouse. You will be responsible for creating scalable batch and streaming data pipelines, optimizing data architectures, and ensuring high standards of data quality, reliability, and performance. This role is ideal for a seasoned data engineer passionate about cloud technologies and analytics at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement production-grade data solutions tailored to the automotive domain
- Enhance and maintain the existing enterprise data lake and contribute to future AWS data warehouse architecture
- Build and operate batch and streaming data pipelines on AWS
- Review, optimize, and monitor ETL processes with a strong focus on data quality and consistency
- Translate business requirements into efficient relational and dimensional data models
- Partner closely with data scientists to deliver scalable, end-to-end analytics solutions
- Apply software engineering best practices across development, testing, and deployment

Preferred Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent experience
- Strong programming expertise in Python with a solid understanding of software architecture
- 5+ years of hands-on experience delivering data engineering solutions in an AWS environment
- Strong experience with Apache Spark (batch & streaming), AWS Glue, Kinesis (Streams & Firehose), Athena, Lambda, and RDS
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with dimensional data modeling for data warehouses
- Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD, Docker; exposure to Apache Iceberg, Terraform, or Django is a plus
- Strong understanding of clean code, version control, code reviews, testing, and automation
- Structured, pragmatic, and solution-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus
