As a Senior Backend Engineer (Freelance), you will join the team immediately to build and maintain the core of the platform, the API, and the Physician Dashboard.
This is a hands-on role where you will work with lean product teams to efficiently turn business requirements into finished features. You will modify API endpoints and the Postgres database to meet the changing needs of the patient app , while also leading development on the Physician Dashboard, a Rails web app with a responsive UI.

π― Responsibilities
- Core Development: Create and modify API endpoints and the Postgres database to support mobile app requirements.
- Web App Features: Lead the development of new features for the Physician Dashboard using Ruby on Rails.
- Best Practices: Work with the Lead Engineer to establish and execute Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and Agile best practices.
- Quality Assurance: Drive test-driven development (TDD) by writing unit, functional, and integration tests, and reviewing team members' code.
- Collaboration: Work in conjunction with engineers to determine the most efficient way to implement features and solve bugs.

- Backend: Ruby on Rails
- Database: PostgreSQL.
- Architecture: Rails Engines , DDD, Design Patterns, SOLID principles.
- Testing: RSpec, Minitest, TDD.
- Infrastructure: AWS , Docker , Circle CI
π οΈ Your Experience
- 4+ years of professional work experience in IT/Software Engineering.
- Rails Expert: 3+ years of extensive experience with Ruby on Rails.
- Testing Culture: Strong experience with TDD and Ruby testing tools like RSpec or Minitest.
- Cloud & DevOps: Experience building solutions on AWS and working with modern build pipelines (e.g., Circle CI).
- Architecture: Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and SOLID principles.
- Regulated Industry: Ideally, you have worked on products in Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) or other regulated industries.
