Job Description

Reports to: Ecommerce Director

Brand Supported: Kate Somerville

About Us

Rare Beauty Brands is a fast-growing portfolio of innovative beauty and skincare brands, including Kate Somerville and Patchology. We combine the agility of a startup with the discipline of a performance-driven organization, scaling brands that inspire confidence, deliver results, and consistently outperform their categories. Our teams move quickly, test boldly, and operate with a deep commitment to data, creativity, and collaboration.

About The Role

The Retention Marketing Manager supports the execution and optimization of the customer lifecycle journey for Kate Somerville across U.S. and U.K. markets. This role focuses on delivering thoughtful, data-informed CRM programs that drive repeat purchase, subscription engagement, and long-term customer value.

Reporting to the Ecommerce Director, this individual will manage day-to-day lifecycle campaigns across Email, SMS, and related channels, working closely with Creative, Digital, and Customer Support teams. This is a hands-on role ideal for a retention marketer who enjoys building, launching, and optimizing campaigns while learning how lifecycle strategy evolves at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Lifecycle & Multi-Channel CRM Strategy

  • Orchestrate High-Performance Campaigns: Direct the planning and deployment of global promotional calendars and automated "always-on" triggers (including Welcome, Cart Recovery, and Win-back series).
  • Creative Pipeline Management: Lead CRM creative workflow, guiding the process from initial briefing and asset feedback to QA and final scheduling.
  • Growth-Focused Programming: Build retention-specific campaigns designed to bolster repeat purchase frequency, subscription stickiness, and customer engagement.
  • Advanced Segmentation: Utilize sophisticated cohort analysis to deliver personalized messaging across Email, SMS, and Push notifications, ensuring the right message reaches the right customer at the right time.
  • Optimization Framework: Support A/B testing initiatives by implementing test variations and making strategic recommendations based on results

Subscription Ecosystem Growth

  • Revenue Expansion: Implement strategies to increase the subscription revenue by enhancing renewal rates and reducing churn.
  • Agency Partnership: Serve as the primary point of contact for subscription partners (e.g., Ordergroove), ensuring the "Subscribe & Save" roadmap aligns with DTC business goals.
  • UX Oversight: Monitor the subscription portal and customer interface to identify friction points and ensure a frictionless path to repurchase.

Insights, Analytics & Performance

  • Reporting: Leverage dashboards to track CRM health (Open Rates, CTR, Revenue per Recipient) alongside business-critical metrics like churn rate and LTV.
  • Forecast Support: Contribute data-driven recommendations to monthly promotional planning based on historical lifecycle trends and seasonal performance.
  • Campaign Analysis: Analyze performance following major commercial moments (e.g., BFCM, Anniversary Sales) to extract actionable intelligence for future retention efforts.

Technical Operations & Cross-Functional Support

  • Platform Stewardship: Monitor the health of the Email Service Provider (ESP) and proactively resolve technical discrepancies or integration bugs between Shopify, Klaviyo, and third-party apps.
  • Brand Alignment: Partner with Social and Brand teams to ensure all retention touchpoints reflect the Kate Somerville voice and uphold the brand’s premium positioning.
  • Site Optimization: Support the Ecommerce Director with consumer experience and CRO deliverables when needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years in e-commerce or digital marketing, with a focus on retention. Beauty, Skincare, Luxury Goods or e-commerce CPG experience preferred
  • Strategic Depth: Expert-level understanding of lifecycle mapping and the ability to build emotional brand loyalty that transcends basic discounting.
  • Technical Stack: Advanced proficiency in Shopify Plus and Klaviyo; experience with subscription logic and retention-specific software.
  • Analytical Capability: Able to navigate complex data sets using Google Analytics (GA4).

What Makes You a Fit

  • You’re hands-on and a data-based thinker.
  • You play well with creative teams and understand what drives CTR, engagement, and conversion.
  • You love building systems but you’re not slowed down by them.
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and equally comfortable tightening a strategy as needed.
  • You’re able to translate technical aspects of CRM and LTV into clear, strategic narratives.

Compensation

Competitive and commensurate with experience. $60k–$80k annually, based on experience. The position is eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits, paid time off, and the Company’s 401k plan with match

Work Environment

This is a fully remote role that requires standard computer-based work and frequent communication via video conferencing, email, and chat. Occasional travel may be required for company meetings or events.

PLEASE NOTE: This position is fully remote and may be performed from any of the following states where the company is currently registered to do business: Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, California.
