Overview
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is looking for a Systems Engineer to join the Operations Department, System administration team, to work in the administration of Linux clusters and BSC IT services for the day-to-day work of the center.
The role is located at BSC within the Operations Department.
About BSC: The Barcelona Supercomputing Center is the leading supercomputing center in Spain.
It houses MareNostrum and is involved in HPC initiatives at European level.

Key Duties
Installation, maintenance, update and resolution of issues related to IT services of the centre (mail, web, databases, servers, etc.).
Configuration and administration of the different storage subsystems and backup system.
Configuration and administration of the BSC HPC & BSC Quantum supercomputing resources.
Configuration and administration of BSC cloud platforms (OpenStack, OpenNebula and Ovirt).
Travel and assist project events or workshops.
Support to European projects, such as Seanergies and others.

Education

Essential Knowledge And Professional Experience
Knowledge and experience in system administration of Linux platforms (4 years minimum).
Development in scripting will be a plus.
Experience in managing HPC clusters will be a plus.
Additional Knowledge And Professional Experience
Good level in English, both written and spoken.
Competences
Initiative, responsibility and good organization skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a diverse, multidisciplinary environment.
Conditions
The position will be located at BSC within the Operations Department.
We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, and relocation support.
Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration.
Holidays: 22 days + 6 personal days + 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement.
Salary: competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, according to cost of living in Barcelona.

Technical competencies, knowledge, and personal competences are evaluated (60 points; a minimum of 30 out of 60 is required).
The recruitment panel will include at least three people with gender-balanced representation.

The process may include technical and administrative interviews, a personality questionnaire, and a technical exercise.
