Senior Data Architect
The Data Assets,Analytics & AI department at Bayer Consumer Health focuses on enabling digital transformation by creating best in class analytical solutions, enabling data-driven decision making and performance optimization for Bayer’s Consumer Health organization.
You will be part of the global data assets, analytics and AI platform and responsible to technically guide projects in the area of Data & Analytics. You partner with business stakeholders, data scientists, analytics leads, data & platform architects and engineers as well as implementation partners/vendors and are the technical lead for scalable Core Data Assets / Data Products. You ensure proper data management, data ingestion, data pipeline orchestration as well as serving of data for analysts. Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Own & lead technical implementation and management of well-integrated, enriched, and re-usable data models and analytics products.
- Collect and manage data requirements of data consumers, translate them into technical concepts considering re-usability & cost efficiency, and partner with data providers
- Ensure that best-practice data management and quality assurance processes are defined and applied and continuously enhance implementation frameworks based on the needs.
- Collaborate with other data architects (e.g. responsible for Commercial or Core Data Assets), analytics leads, data scientists in order to reuse data and ensure sustainable pipelines and analytical products are built.
- Collaborate with business functions (global & regional business stakeholders) and other IT teams (core data asset architects, analytics teams, data science teams, platform product managers & integration architects) to ensure delivery in line with value, business priorities and IT objectives.
- Lead the integration of different data sources in order to develop globally harmonized data models & KPIs meeting the market requirements
- Steer delivery teams, mainly data and bi engineers (internal and external), provide cost and time estimations, challenge effort estimations and assure high quality delivery & proper testing of delivery teams as well as vendor implementations & proper handover to support.
- Contribute to best-practice exchange in our data architecture chapter, contribute to the continuous enhancement of data analytics technology stack by providing feedback and explaining requirements of projects in your responsibility.
- Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar
- 5+ years' working experience in the field of Data & Analytics, preferably in the CPG industry.
- Excellent data architecture & technology knowledge and data engineering skills in spark-based data processing solutions (tech stack: Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, SQL, Python, Snowflake is nice to have).
- Proficient in data modeling techniques with a strong capability to mentor and support data engineers in best practices and implementation strategies.
- Profound knowledge in reporting solutions such as Tableau or PowerBI, and data management knowhow (data cataloguing, data quality management, data compliance management)
- Profound in GitHub ecosystem including the VCS, GitHub Actions for CI/CD and working with tickets/issues and pull requests. Understanding of Azure Dev/ops is a plus. Experience in delivering data as a product and in leading data engineering teams.
- Knowhow about data from commercial domains (CRM, eComm, Sell-Out etc.)
- Experience in applying Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgement. Interpersonal and communication skills, active listening, consulting and presentation skills
- Fluent in English, both written & spoken, intercultural awareness (Europe, US, India) and willingness to travel occasionally
