Venture Search is proud to partner with a Crypto HFT firm who has launched a high-priority DeFi trading desk, combining startup-level agility with the resources of a well-established, profitable trading firm. They are now building the technical foundation of this initiative and are looking for a Lead Python Developer to architect and scale their DeFi trading infrastructure from the ground up.

This is a rare chance to join as one of the first senior engineering hires, taking ownership of critical components within a production trading system while working closely with the founding team. As the platform evolves, there is flexibility to introduce Rust for performance-critical paths, with a pragmatic, tool-first approach to engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Scale and enhance a Python-based DeFi trading platform
• Build high-performance integrations with DeFi protocols and smart contracts
• Develop real-time blockchain data pipelines for event processing and market signals

• Design and implement microservices to expand automation and trading capabilities
• Own key systems end-to-end, from architecture through deployment
• Drive performance optimization, including potential use of Rust for low-latency components
• Leverage AI-powered development tools (e.g. Claude, Codex, Cursor) to increase development velocity
• Contribute as a hands-on technical leader to engineering and architectural decisions

Required Experience:

• Strong professional experience with Python in real-time, performance-critical systems
• Deep expertise in asynchronous programming (async/await, asyncio, concurrency patterns)

• Proven ability to design scalable, distributed microservice architectures
• Hands-on experience with performance profiling, tuning, and system optimization
• Experience building reliable systems that operate under latency and throughput constraints
• Strong ownership mindset and comfort operating in fast-paced, high-impact environments

Nice to have:

• Background in crypto HFT or low-latency trading systems
• Experience with Rust, C++, or other performance-oriented languages
• Experience operating your own nodes or custom blockchain infrastructure
