We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and inspire our Menu engineering teams in building a cutting‑edge Point of Sale (POS) platform for restaurants that need fast, efficient front‑of‑house and kitchen workflows.
The Menu area is at the heart of the hospitality experience: it powers how restaurants model their offerings (menus, items, modifiers, availability, and configurations) across all channels – in‑store POS, online ordering, kitchen, and third‑party integrations. You will own teams working across backend, frontend, and Android to deliver a reliable, flexible, and performant menu platform.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical background across backend and frontend, with exposure to mobile (Android preferred), experience with microservice architecture, and modern web development frameworks. This role is critical for driving product development in the Menu domain, ensuring high‑quality, resilient deliverables, and fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
On a daily basis, you will:- Own the Menu domain across the SpotOn POS ecosystem, leading and mentoring engineering teams responsible for Menu structure, availability logic, configuration, and propagation of menu data and support orders.
- Lead Frontend + Android + Backend engineers in the Menu area, ensuring strong collaboration and shared domain understanding across platforms.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design and Support to shape the Menu product vision and roadmap, balancing scalability, usability, and operational needs of restaurants.
- Manage the full software development lifecycle for your teams, from discovery and planning through deployment and rollout strategies (feature flags, phased rollouts), to ongoing maintenance.
- Foster a culture focused on:
- Code quality, testing, and observability (unit, integration, end‑to‑end tests, monitoring, alerts).
- Clear ownership and accountability for services and features in production.
- Continuous learning and improvement.
- Participate in and guide architectural decisions for:
- Microservices and APIs.
- Cross‑platform domain modeling (shared contracts / schemas for Web and Android).
- Performance and reliability at scale (large menus, multi‑location brands, high‑traffic periods).
- Implement and optimize development and release processes, ensuring:
- Efficient delivery of product features.
- High reliability through CI/CD, automated testing, and robust rollout / rollback practices.
- Partner with other teams (ordering, payments, kitchen, integrations, and more) to ensure Menu is a reliable platform for downstream experiences.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent; build high‑performing, autonomous teams with clear missions and metrics.
- Drive data‑driven decision making by defining and tracking key engineering and product metrics (latency, error rates, configuration propagation time, menu publish success, adoption, etc.).
- Ensure strong collaboration with support and operations teams, using feedback and incident trends to guide product and technical priorities.
