Job Description
SYSTEMTEC is seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator for a remote opportunity (Candidates MUST be SC residents). The candidate will lead database migration and modernization initiatives while providing ongoing operational support for enterprise systems.
Required Qualifications of the SQL Server Database Administrator:
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to provide sponsorship or work with Third-Party agencies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent professional experience on a year-for-year basis)
- 5+ years of experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA, including backup/recovery and performance tuning
- At least 1 year of experience migrating application databases across different versions and platforms.
- Hands-on experience migrating application databases across versions and/or platforms
- Strong technical expertise in T-SQL, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and managing database roles, permissions, and encryption
- Preferred: Experience implementing Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) for data-at-rest security, knowledge of database architecture principles, including schema design and normalization, and proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and administration

Responsibilities of the SQL Server Database Administrator:
- Assess current database environments and develop strategies to migrate applications to upgraded or cloud-based platforms
- Plan, coordinate, and execute database migrations while minimizing downtime and resolving technical issues
- Install, configure, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases to ensure stability and performance
- Implement security controls including encryption (such as TDE), access management, and auditing to meet regulatory standards
- Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to support modernization and ongoing database operations.
