We are seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer (10+ years) to lead a specialist initiative focused on network performance optimisation, containment architecture, and controlled network shutdown capability across complex enterprise environments.

This role is suited to a senior engineer with deep operational experience in network assurance, resilience planning, security hardening, and large-scale infrastructure control mechanisms.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

Network Performance Optimisation

• Monitor and analyse network performance metrics (latency, jitter, packet loss, throughput)
• Identify bottlenecks and congestion points across WAN, LAN, and DC environments
• Implement QoS policies and bandwidth management controls
• Optimise routing, traffic engineering, and failover design

Infrastructure Engineering & Upgrades

• Deploy and configure routers, switches, firewalls, WAPs, and SD-WAN solutions
• Plan and execute network refresh and optimisation programmes
• Improve Wi-Fi performance and coverage across enterprise estates
• Implement WAN optimisation strategies

Incident Response & Network Stability

• Lead root cause analysis of outages and performance degradation
• Implement proactive monitoring to reduce downtime
• Maintain detailed documentation of recurring issues and resolution playbooks
• Support high-severity incident response in critical environments

Security Hardening & Access Control

• Eliminate unauthorised access points and rogue devices
• Enforce firewall policy, segmentation, and Zero Trust principles
• Monitor and mitigate suspicious network activity
• Secure endpoints and remote access channels

🛑 Network Containment & Eradication Capabilities

This role includes the design and documentation of network containment strategies, including:

Network Isolation & Controlled Shutdown

• Assurance and mapping of all environments (Internet ingress/egress, extranet stack inventory, ASN records per site)
• Creation of pre-built configurations for containment levers
• Development of diagrams and full interface inventories
• Pre-built configurations to disable external connectivity when required
• Step-by-step procedures for shutting down user connectivity methods, including:
• Aruba RAP

Offline & Resilience Engineering

• Design systems capable of operating in low/no-connectivity environments
• Implement local caching and synchronisation mechanisms
• Configure secure, air-gapped or isolated environments
• Remove unnecessary external dependencies to improve resilience

🧠 Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Network Engineering / Network Operations
• Strong enterprise background across:
• Cisco (routing/switching, DC technologies)
• Fortinet
• Zscaler
• Aruba
• Citrix Netscaler
• Deep understanding of WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, DC networking
• Experience with large-scale, multi-site enterprise environments
• Strong documentation and assurance capability
• Proven ability to design containment and network shutdown procedures
