Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Cryptography Engineer in United States.
The Cryptography Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and operationalization of post-quantum cryptography (PQC) solutions within a federal cybersecurity modernization program. This role offers the opportunity to shape enterprise-wide quantum-resilient encryption, PKI modernization, and automated cryptographic discovery systems. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders, engineers, and cross-functional teams to define requirements, evaluate tools, architect solutions, and drive deployment and operational readiness. The position demands a combination of hands-on engineering expertise, program vision, and the ability to influence complex federal initiatives. You will play a critical role in advancing the Department’s capabilities for post-quantum security while ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity standards. This is a high-impact role in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with significant technical autonomy and responsibility.
Accountabilities
- Design, implement, and operationalize PQC and PKI solutions across enterprise environments
- Develop and maintain automated cryptographic discovery and inventory (ACDI) capabilities
- Define solution requirements, create roadmaps, and deliver technical documentation and implementation plans
- Deploy, integrate, and validate PQC solutions with existing systems, ensuring compliance with federal mandates
- Conduct post-implementation evaluations and provide continuous operational support including monitoring, patching, and optimization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including SOC, IT, and security compliance, to ensure effective incident response and process improvement
- Support audits, RMF activities, and risk management processes, maintaining accurate system security documentation
- 10+ years of experience in engineering, technical, or program execution roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
- Minimum CISSP certification (or willingness to obtain within 3 months)
- Expertise in PQC, PKI, and ACDI technologies, including implementation, integration, and risk assessment
- Familiarity with federal security frameworks such as FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, and RMF processes
- Strong technical writing skills for documentation, SOPs, playbooks, and compliance evidence
- Excellent communication skills to engage with government stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Preferred: experience with COTS/GOTS tools, NIST-approved PQC algorithms, and federal cybersecurity modernization projects
