Founding Backend and Platform Engineer - Automotive/Mobility

This role is ONLY for engineers who have built backend or platform systems in the automotive or mobility industry.

You MUST have worked on backend systems involving:

• Vehicle telemetry

• Connected vehicle platforms

• Automotive cloud systems

• Telematics platforms

• Fleet platforms

• EV platforms

• Automotive IoT platforms

• Automotive Tier-1 software platforms

If your experience is in generic SaaS, fintech, e-commerce, or unrelated backend systems, DO NOT APPLY.

JORO Systems is building JORO IQ, the Safety Intelligence Layer for automotive OEMs.

Once vehicles are sold, OEMs lose visibility into real-world safety behavior.

JORO IQ builds the backend platform that continuously ingests vehicle data, detects safety risks, and provides regulatory-grade safety intelligence.

This platform will operate at fleet scale across millions of vehicles.

We are building this from scratch.

This is a founding engineering role.

You will architect and build the core backend and platform infrastructure of JORO IQ.

You will not maintain existing systems.

You will build the system.

You will own:

• Vehicle telemetry ingestion platform

• Safety intelligence backend

• Data pipeline infrastructure

• Platform architecture

• Cloud infrastructure

Your decisions will define the technical foundation of the company.

You MUST have:

• 5+ years backend engineering experience

• Direct automotive / mobility platform experience

• Experience working with vehicle telemetry or connected vehicle systems

• Strong experience in Python, Go, or Java

• Strong experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure

• Experience building production-scale backend systems

• Experience designing scalable system architecture

• Strong database experience (PostgreSQL, NoSQL, time-series DB)

You must have built and deployed real automotive backend systems.

Candidates with experience in the following will be prioritized:

• CAN data / vehicle signals

• Telematics platforms

• Kafka or streaming systems

• Real-time telemetry processing

• IoT backend systems

• Fleet platforms

• Automotive cloud platforms

• Distributed systems

• You do not have automotive / mobility backend experience

• You are a frontend developer

• You are a fresher or junior engineer

• You have only worked on generic SaaS platforms

• You prefer structured corporate environments

• You do not want ownership

This role requires speed, ownership, and deep expertise.

You will build systems such as:

• Fleet-scale vehicle telemetry ingestion platform

• Vehicle signal processing backend

• Safety intelligence platform

• Risk detection backend infrastructure

• APIs for OEM integration

• Scalable cloud platform

This platform will scale to millions of vehicles.

You will be:

• A founding engineer

• Owning the core platform

• Building deep-tech infrastructure

• Working directly with automotive OEM systems

• Receiving meaningful equity

Your work will define the company.

Chennai strongly preferred.

Relocation required if currently outside Chennai.
