Job Title: SAP Junior Technical Support Engineer

Client: State of South Carolina โ€“ Department of Public Health (DPH)

Department: Office of Information Technology (OIT) โ€“ Administrative Systems & HR

Duration: 12 Months

Start Date: 03/25/2026 or sooner

Possibility of Extension: Yes

Interview Process: One Round โ€“ Virtual (Camera ON)

Work Location: Fully Remote (Quarterly travel to Cayce, SC at candidate/vendor expense)

Candidate Location Requirement: Must reside in Eastern Time Zone

Position Overview

The State of South Carolina is seeking an SAP Junior Technical Support Engineer to support Public Health Financial and Administrative systems modernization initiatives. This is a new position created to strengthen HR system configuration, automation, data integrity, reporting, and compliance support within the SCEIS SAP ECC environment.

The selected candidate will work closely with HR, IT, and Finance teams to optimize SAP HR modules, streamline workflows, improve data accuracy, and support compliance with federal and state regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

1. System Configuration & Workflow Optimization

  • Configure and maintain SAP ECC HR modules (SCEIS platform).
  • Implement workflow-driven automation to reduce manual processes.
  • Support position-based access configuration (RBAC).
  • Maintain system configuration documentation and change management records.

2. Testing & Implementation

  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and UAT.
  • Support production rollouts and patches.
  • Troubleshoot SAP HR system issues and escalate when required.

3. Data Quality & Reporting

  • Monitor HR data integrity across systems.
  • Develop advanced reports and dashboards using:
  • SAP reporting tools
  • Excel
  • Power BI
  • Support audit and compliance reporting.

4. Documentation & Technical Support

  • Create and maintain SOPs, user guides, and configuration documentation.
  • Provide technical support and training to HR users.
  • Update documentation in SharePoint and collaboration tools.

5. Security & Compliance

  • Assist in compliance with:
  • NIST 800-53
  • FISMA
  • SC Information Security policies
  • Support implementation of data classification and security protocols.
  • Ensure adherence to agency IT standards and cybersecurity policies.


Required Skills (Mandatory)

  1. 3+ Years of experience with SAP ECC (SCEIS) HR modules (configuration, testing, troubleshooting).
  2. 3+ Years of experience with State HR/Payroll processes and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, FLSA).
  3. 3+ Years of experience in data validation, monitoring, and issue resolution.
  4. 3+ Years of advanced reporting & dashboard development using SAP tools, Excel, Power BI.
  5. 3+ Years of experience with Microsoft Office & collaboration tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).
  6. Experience with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and position-driven system access.


Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with:
  • NIST 800-53
  • FISMA
  • SC Information Security Policies
  • Experience in IT implementation or modernization projects.
  • Public sector/government experience (preferred).


Education Requirement

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in relevant field OR equivalent work experience.
