EHR Technical Systems Manager

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States

Position Type: Direct Hire, Permanent

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (after-hours and weekend participation required)

Compensation: $100,131.20 – $140,196.80 annually

Incentives: $10,000 sign-on/relocation bonus

Job Summary

The EHR Technical Systems Manager is responsible for the technical planning, coordination, and operational oversight of Epic and its ancillary systems infrastructure. This role oversees key infrastructure components including ODB Administration, Cogito Administration, Epic Client Systems, and SQL Administration. The Manager leads a team of database administrators and client systems administrators, ensuring system performance, reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all Epic infrastructure operations, ensuring system uptime, performance, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Coordinate and manage Epic update activities, including quarterly upgrades, monthly ad-hocs, SPREs, and SUs—many executed after hours.
  • Review, approve, implement, and document IT system changes in accordance with established change control procedures.
  • Lead the design, planning, approval, and execution of technical projects within the Epic infrastructure environment.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise IT standards and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for IT staff, including recruitment, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage vendor and consultant contracts, service agreements, and performance expectations.
  • Benchmark system performance and recommend improvements to support organizational growth.
  • Assist in the development and management of capital and operational budgets for Epic technical environments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with infrastructure teams, InfoSec, application analysts, clinicians, and executive leadership.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide calm, decisive leadership during upgrades, incidents, and high-impact system events.
Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, or related field
  • Eight (8) years of enterprise-level experience may substitute for a degree

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a technical EHR/EMR environment
  • Strong experience with Epic infrastructure components, including:
  • Epic Operational Database (ODB)
  • IRIS/Caché database environments
  • Cogito Administration
  • Epic Client Systems
  • SQL database operations
  • Experience with IT change control management processes
  • Familiarity with IT governance frameworks (e.g., ITIL)
  • Project management experience within complex healthcare IT environments

Certifications:

  • Epic Systems Certification (required)
