Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based in Australia making original, long form animated shows distributed on Youtube. Our channel has over 18 million subscribers, tens of millions of views per episode and is still growing strong. Our studio is filled with incredibly talented and passionate artists that are determined to change the way animation is produced and treated in the industry. Our biggest IP; Digital Circus, has amassed over 350 million views on the pilot alone and we have a lot more still to come.

Role Information

We’re looking for a 2D Art Director with a strong background in animation production to adapt & realise a showrunner’s artistic vision and lead the visual direction of our projects from concept to delivery. This role is ideal for someone who lives and breathes 2D art, illustration, and storytelling, and can inspire artists while collaborating closely with production and leadership teams.

Your Duties Will Include

• Define and drive a show’s visual style across 2D animation projects, ensuring consistency and quality.
• Lead, mentor and support a team of 2D artists and illustrators.
• Translate creative vision into clear, production-ready direction.
• Collaborate with Creative, Production and Technical teams to deliver high-quality work on time.
• Create and oversee concepts, color scripts, backgrounds, model sheets, expression sheets and other guidelines.
• Set standards for line quality, color palettes, lighting style, and compositing look.
• Contribute to pitches, development and look exploration.

A Successful Candidate Must Have

• Proven industry experience as a 2D Art Director or Senior 2D Artist in animation production.
• Strong portfolio showcasing 2D illustration, design, and visual storytelling.
• Deep understanding of animation pipelines and production workflows.
• Experience leading and mentoring creative teams.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for developing artists and elevating creative output.

• An understanding or experience with the arts, animation, gaming, and/or ‘internet nerd’ culture.
• Be extremely organized and have a strong work ethic.
