Job Description


Our client is seeking an Accounts Payable & Payroll Specialist to join their finance team on a 6-month contract that has the potential to become permanent for the right fit. This role is a 50/50 split between high-volume Accounts Payable and full-cycle Canadian payroll processing. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, manual environment.

This is a fully remote opportunity with long-term potential.


Key Responsibilities


Accounts Payable (50%)

  • Full-cycle AP including invoice intake, coding, approvals, and 3-way matching
  • High-volume invoice processing
  • Manage weekly/monthly payment runs (EFT, wire, cheque)
  • Support vendor inquiries and internal coordination


Payroll (50%)

  • Fully process multi-provincial Canadian payroll (Quebec experience required)
  • Manage payroll updates (new hires, salary changes, terminations)
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and remittances
  • Year-end processing (T4s, RL-1)
  • Approve U.S. payroll processed via third-party provider


Requirements


  • 5+ years AP and payroll experience
  • Proven experience processing Canadian multi-provincial payroll
  • Strong knowledge of Quebec payroll compliance
  • Experience in high-volume AP environments
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivots, lookups)
  • Comfortable working in manual processes
  • Independent and detail-oriented
  • PCP designation
  • Experience in mid-sized organizations (100–300 employees)
  • Exposure to ERP and payroll system transitions
