Job Description


This position collects, stores, processes and builds applications within our big data platform. Responsible for integrating these applications with the architecture used across the organization.

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Performs exploratory data analysis to determine which questions can be answered effectively with a given dataset.
  • Develops highly scalable and extensible data pipelines from internal and external sources.
  • Works on cross-functional teams to develop and deploy data-driven applications and products, particularly within the space of data science.
  • Assists with prototyping emerging technologies involving data ingestion and transformation, distributed file systems, databases and frameworks.
  • Builds and maintains tools to increase the productivity of application development and client facing teams.
  • Develops and automates data quality checks.
  • Develops big data applications and data visualization tools.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience using a variety of data stores (e.g. RDBMS, analytic database, scalable document stores).
  • Hands-on programming experience in Python, with an emphasis towards building ETL workflows and data-driven solutions.
  • Understanding of database internals, such as indexes, binary logging, and transactions.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Docker, CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.)

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 10%.

  • Work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783.

Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the office location.

Internal Employees are encouraged to apply, however you will be required to relocate to Madison, Wi. if you are in a different job family or SLT.
