Senior Backend Developer for Edge and Cloud Platforms

Are you a Senior Backend Developer passionate about building scalable edge and cloud platforms that power real-world industrial data solutions?

We are looking for an experienced .NET Backend Developer to support the development of data acquisition and edge platforms that enable customers to collect, process, and transmit data securely to cloud backends, while deploying digital products directly at the edge.

This is more than just building APIs - it’s about designing robust backend services that operate in distributed, containerised, production-grade environments.

We’re supporting a global, highly regulated industrial technology leader as they modernise their edge and cloud architecture to deliver scalable, high-performance digital solutions.

What you’ll do:

• Design and implement backend services and solution frameworks for data acquisition and edge platforms, enabling seamless data collection, processing, and cloud integration.
• Containerise existing and new .NET services and deploy them efficiently using microK8s and Kubernetes-based orchestration.
• Develop modular, reusable backend components and libraries that support long-term scalability and evolving product requirements.
• Build and optimise RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core, including middleware configuration, API versioning, and secure service design.
• Work with relational and time-series databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL Server, and Timescale to ensure high-performance data storage and retrieval.
• Ensure high code quality through strong testing practices, peer reviews, and close collaboration with QA teams.

• Collaborate closely with product owners, internal stakeholders, and customers to translate user requirements into reliable and scalable technical solutions.

What you’ll bring:

• Recent hands-on backend development experience using C# .NET and/or .NET Core.
• Strong expertise in ASP.NET Core, RESTful API design, middleware configuration, and service architecture.
• Solid experience working with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MS SQL Server, with exposure to time-series databases such as Timescale.
• Experience containerising .NET applications using Docker and orchestrating microservices with Kubernetes (microK8s preferred).
• Strong understanding of software design principles, scalability patterns, and production-grade backend development.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• A structured, analytical mindset with a strong testing ethic and passion for delivering high-quality code.

Nice to have:

• Experience with gRPC and high-performance service communication.
• Familiarity with GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, Ansible, and automated deployment practices.
• Experience working in agile or lean development environments.
• Exposure to international projects and cross-functional collaboration.
• Comfort working independently while contributing effectively within a team.
