This is a fully remote position within the United Kingdom.

About the Network Security Engineer Position:

The Network Security Engineer is responsible for assisting in the implementation and maintenance of physical and virtual network infrastructure, devices, and hardware, as well as supporting the implementation and ongoing maintenance of network and security-related systems.

What you'll do as a Network Security Engineer:

  • Assist with the Implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all physical and virtual networking devices.
  • Assist with the continuous improvement of the networking architecture and networking best practices.
  • Participate in gathering statistics for performance indicators (KPIs) and security metrics to measure the effectiveness of security controls, incident response, and overall security posture.
  • Help ensure all systems are monitored for performance, security, and uptime.
  • Help Ensure all hosted services and applications are highly available for our customers.
  • Help ensure that all network and security systems are backed up, patched and rebooted in line with the currently documented best practices.
  • Participate in performing routine security audits of all systems in line with the currently documented best practices, including but not limited to security assessments, product integration, and penetration testing.
  • Ensure that tickets are responded to and resolved within SLA guidelines.
  • Contribute to firewall, router, and component configuration across the security network.
  • Assist with the enforcement of security policies and practices to protect the IT infrastructure from cyber threats.
  • In collaboration with the infrastructure team, ensure patching is completed in line with the current security policy
  • Responds to major service incidents, resolution, and IR process.
  • Follow Change Management processes to implement configuration changes.?
  • Follow Problem Management processes to troubleshoot and resolve recurring issues.?
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure 24 x 7 support of IT operations.

Requirements

What you need to be a successful Network Security Engineer:

  • 1-2 years of experience in network engineering and data security within an enterprise environment.
  • Understanding of Virtualized and Physical networking systems.
  • Core Firewall Management experience, including policy updates and device redundancy fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of Switch Management and Principles.
  • Familiarity with Load Balancing Technologies.
  • Experience working with TCP/IP and other Networking Protocols.
  • Foundational knowledge of Security principles and IT Security Compliance.
  • Proficient with operating systems like Windows, Linux, and/or other shell interface systems.
  • Capability to troubleshoot and offer scalable solutions to complex challenges.
  • Effective team player with the ability to collaborate within a global team environment.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to participate within a department level on-call 24/7 pager rotation.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Salary range is £31,000 - £36,000 per year. This range may vary depending on the experience, qualifications, and other factors of the individual being hired.
