GenAI Engineer (Azure Cloud, Azure AI Foundry, LangGraph, RAG, Healthcare - Epic/FHIR) - 100% Remote - W2 Contract
Optomi, in partnership with a leading not-for-profit healthcare system serving communities across the Carolinas, is seeking a GenAI Engineer to fulfill a contract-to-hire with a client based in the Carolinas.
This role is focused on building real, production-grade AI solutions that are embedded directly into healthcare applications used by clinicians, care teams, and patients every day.
This is not a research or proof-of-concept role. You’ll be designing, building, and deploying Generative AI and Machine Learning solutions that improve patient experience, streamline clinical workflows, and operate safely within a highly regulated healthcare environment.

Apply Today If Your Background Includes:
- Previous experience in traditional application development
- Strong full-stack engineering background, with the ability to work across modern backend and frontend technologies
- Proven experience as an AI Engineer (or similar role) building applications with Generative AI and Machine Learning
- Experience working with LLMs, RAG architectures, and AI-driven services in production
- Familiarity with the Azure ecosystem, including Azure OpenAI / Foundry; Databricks experience is a plus
- Experience building or integrating healthcare-related applications is preferred; direct Epic integration experience is a strong plus
- Solid coding skills, with an expectation that you actively leverage AI tools to write and improve code efficiently (this will be discussed during interviews)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
- Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating with cross-functional teams
