Senior QA Engineer

This is mostly manual position. This role is fully remote and is a PJ contractor.

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance (manual and/or blended QA roles) with strong ownership of test execution and release readiness.

• Jira proficiency for defect tracking, workflows, and reporting.

• Hands-on experience with API testing (e.g., Postman, Swagger, curl, or similar) — note: API work is a smaller portion (~10%).

• Cruise / travel / hotel / hospitality industry experience

• Strong understanding of QA fundamentals: test design, defect lifecycle, SDLC/STLC, and Agile testing practices. Excellent communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience testing eCommerce, booking engines, reservations, loyalty, payments, check-in/boarding, or guest service platforms.

• Exposure to test automation (any framework/tool) and ability to collaborate with automation engineers (if applicable).

• Basic SQL for validation, data checks, or troubleshooting. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release processes.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer to help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of customer-facing and internal applications in a fast-paced travel/hospitality environment. This role will partner closely with product, engineering, and delivery teams to define test strategy, execute testing across releases, and continuously improve QA processes. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on QA experience, deep familiarity with Jira, and working knowledge of API testing (a smaller portion of the overall workload).

Day to Day

• Own and execute end-to-end testing for web and/or mobile applications, including functional, regression, smoke, and UAT support.

• Create and maintain clear test plans, test cases, and test execution evidence aligned to release timelines.

• Work in Agile/Scrum teams to provide early QA input on requirements, acceptance criteria, and edge cases.

• Log, track, and manage defects in Jira, ensuring high-quality documentation and strong follow-through through resolution.

• Perform API validation/testing (estimated ~10% of overall effort) using tools such as Postman/Swagger or similar; validate request/response payloads and integration behaviors.

• Collaborate with engineers and product owners to reproduce issues, validate fixes, and confirm release readiness.

• Help improve QA efficiency through better test coverage, risk-based testing, and repeatable regression approaches. Contribute to quality standards, best practices, and continuous improvement across the SDLC.
