Perth’s digital and tech scene is growing steadily, and right now Big Wave Digital is working with a well regarded creative digital agency that is looking for a Lead Product Designer (UX/UI) to help shape and grow their design capability.

This is a genuine leadership role for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of strategy, design delivery, and client partnership. The role would suit a Sydney based Product Designer or Senior UX/UI Designer who is ready to step into more design leadership while still remaining hands on in the craft.

The agency works across complex digital products, platforms and experience design initiatives for a range of organisations. Design thinking is central to how projects are delivered, and this role plays a key part in helping clients navigate complexity and turn ideas into meaningful digital experiences.

🌊The Opportunity

As Lead Product Designer you will work closely with senior clients, strategy leaders, product teams and project managers to deliver high quality UX and UI outcomes that align user needs with business objectives.

You will take ownership of complex digital engagements, guide teams through ambiguity and help elevate both the quality of design work and the maturity of design thinking across the organisation.

This role suits someone who is just as comfortable facilitating conversations in a boardroom as they are sketching user flows, mapping journeys, prototyping ideas or refining interface design.

Key Responsibilities

Lead digital product and experience design across a range of complex projects and digital platforms.

Build strong and trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, helping clients navigate challenges and shape digital initiatives that improve customer experience and business outcomes.

Lead the successful delivery of UX and UI work across projects, partnering closely with strategy, delivery and engineering teams to ensure high quality outcomes.

Provide quality assurance across UX and UI solutions and help maintain a high standard of design craft across the agency.

Remain hands on in the design work, contributing across the full UX lifecycle including user research, persona development, journey mapping, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping and interface design.

Facilitate discovery sessions and design workshops that translate complex ideas into clear product direction and actionable design outcomes.

Mentor and support designers within the team, helping lift overall capability, confidence and quality of thinking.

Champion design thinking across the organisation and encourage creativity, curiosity and thoughtful problem solving.

Stay current with UX and product design trends, tools and best practices and help ensure the agency continues to evolve its design practice.

Partner with senior leadership and strategy teams to support new business opportunities and contribute to the development of new digital products and services.

About You

You are a thoughtful designer who cares deeply about the craft of design and the impact it can have on people and organisations.

You likely have around 6+ years of experience across UX, UI or product design, working across digital products, apps, platforms and complex digital ecosystems.

You bring experience working in collaborative environments where design, product and engineering teams come together to solve meaningful problems.

You are confident running discovery workshops, stakeholder sessions and user research activities, and you are comfortable translating insights into clear design direction.

You enjoy mentoring other designers and helping teams grow, while still remaining actively involved in hands on design work.

You are confident using modern design tools such as Figma and collaborative platforms that support rapid exploration, prototyping and iteration.

Most importantly, you bring curiosity, calm leadership and a genuine passion for designing digital experiences that actually make a difference.
