Senior/Staff Tech Lead - Web Application Architecture & Client Engagement (Colombia)

We are looking for a Senior/Staff-level Tech Lead who can own technical architecture, lead development teams, and interface directly with US-based clients. You need to be deeply technical while also being an excellent communicator and technical advisor.

Located in COLOMBIA (Other countries, unfortunately, will not be considered).

Compensation: $12,000,000 - $18,000,000 COP depending on experience and technical depth.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership (60%)

• Architect and design complex web applications and systems

• Make critical technology stack decisions (frameworks, libraries, infrastructure)

• Code reviews - you'll be reviewing PRs from the team and setting engineering standards

• Solve the hardest technical problems - when the team gets stuck, you unblock them

• Performance optimization - ensure applications are fast, scalable, and maintainable

• Security and best practices - you set the bar for code quality Client & Project Management (40%)

• Lead technical discovery with US clients - understand requirements, propose solutions, estimate timelines

• Communicate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders clearly

• Project scoping and estimation - break down complex projects into deliverables

• Risk management - identify technical risks early and propose mitigation strategies

• Client check-ins - present progress, explain technical trade-offs, manage expectations

• Team coordination - ensure projects ship on time with high quality

Qualifications

Must-Haves

🌎 English Proficiency: C1 (Advanced) or above

• You'll be talking to US clients weekly - sometimes daily

• Need to explain complex technical concepts clearly

• Write technical documentation, proposals, and architecture docs

• 💻 Exceptionally Strong Technical Skills

• 10+ years of software development experience (or equivalent depth)

• Expert-level JavaScript/TypeScript and React - you know modern web development inside and out

• Full-stack capable - comfortable with Node.js, APIs, databases, and cloud deployment

• System design and architecture - can build scalable, maintainable applications from scratch

• CSS mastery - pixel-perfect implementations, performance optimization, responsive design

• Modern tooling and workflows - Git, CI/CD, testing, debugging - you know the full stack

🔧 Problem-Solving & Ownership

• Debug anything - browser DevTools, network inspector, performance profiler

• Read and understand any codebase - legacy code, third-party libraries, framework internals

• Self-sufficient - Google, read docs, StackOverflow, AI tools - you figure it out

• Own outcomes - you don't just write code, you ensure projects succeed

🗣️ Strong Communication & Leadership

• Proactive - raise flags early, propose improvements, don't wait to be told

• Collaborative - mentor junior devs, pair program, share knowledge

• Client-facing confidence - comfortable presenting technical solutions to stakeholders

• Written communication - clear Slack messages, documentation, PRs, technical specs

Nice-to-Haves

• E-commerce, WordPress, or headless CMS experience

• Design systems or component library experience

• Experience managing/leading remote teams
