Our client is a US-based enhanced AI tech platform transforming the mortgage operations industry.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join their growing infrastructure team and help build, operate, and scale a modern cloud-native platform.

This role focuses on infrastructure automation, cloud architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and system reliability. You will work closely with software engineers, data engineers, and machine learning teams to build and maintain a reliable, scalable platform running on Microsoft Azure.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, containerized workloads, and workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, and is comfortable operating production systems in cloud environments.

This role is fully remote but candidates must be based in South Africa.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.
• Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, builds, and deployments.
• Deploy and maintain Apache Airflow workflows for data pipelines and system orchestration.
• Ensure infrastructure reliability through monitoring, alerting, and performance optimization.
• Manage system scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Automate operational processes and reduce manual infrastructure management.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment workflows and system observability.
• Troubleshoot production issues across infrastructure, networking, and application layers.
• Implement security best practices including identity management, secrets management, and network policies.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Experience managing Kubernetes clusters and container orchestration.
• Experience deploying and operating Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration platforms.
• Strong experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar).
• Experience working with Docker and containerized applications.
