Job Description

We're looking for a Game Developer to join Playabit, an independent casual mobile game studio in London founded by some very experienced casual puzzle game creators. The projects we have shipped and worked on as examples: Toy Blast, Toon Blast, Royal Match, Candy Crush, Love & Pies, Farm Heroes and many more.

What you'd be working on: We are working with Supercell on a match 3 game on one of their most successful IP's Hay Day. A brand new casual puzzle game currently in alpha, heading toward soft launch. You'll be shaping this title from the ground up alongside a small, senior engineering team (two principals and one engineer). This is hands-on, client-side Unity/C# work: building gameplay systems, iterating closely with designers and artists on game feel, optimizing for mobile performance, and polishing until it's ready for players worldwide.

About Playabit: We started in 2021 as an affiliate of Wildlife Studios (one of the world's top 10 mobile gaming companies) and became fully independent in late 2024. Our founding team includes veterans from Peak Games, King, Jam City, and Big Fish Games; people who've built and scaled some of the biggest casual games in the industry. We're a small, tight-knit team based in Hammersmith, London, driven by a simple mission: create mobile games enjoyed by millions.

The role: This isn't a cog-in-the-machine position at a massive studio. You'll have real ownership over features and systems, working directly with the people making creative and technical decisions. You'll solve challenging problems around gameplay, client optimization, and content pipeline tooling. You'll iterate rapidly with designers and artists to hit a high bar of polish. And you'll see your work ship to real players.

What we're looking for: Deep Unity/C# expertise is essential. You should be comfortable building performant, flexible mobile game code and optimizing for memory, frame rate, and app size. We want someone who has shipped live mobile games and understands the full lifecycle from development through launch and live operations. Casual puzzle experience (match-3, sort puzzles, blast mechanics) is a strong bonus but not required. 5+ years of professional game development experience is the baseline, though more senior candidates are very welcome.

What we offer: Competitive compensation (£65,000–£100,000 depending on experience), the chance to work with industry veterans who've built billion-dollar game franchises, and the creative ownership that comes with a small, ambitious studio. UK-based candidates can start as contractors with a hybrid arrangement (3 days in office, 2 remote) before transitioning to full-time on-site. We're also open to visa sponsorship for the right person. Our benefits including Private Health Insurance, Commute Expense, Gym Membership and On Site Lunch.

If you want to build something players love, alongside people who've done it before at massive scale, we'd love to hear from you.
