Head of Design for Connected Consumer Product

Head of Design | Connected Consumer Product | Up to £150k | Remote

Salary: Up to £150,000

I’m working with a well-funded European startup building a connected consumer product that combines a physical device with a companion mobile experience. They’re now looking for a Head of Design to join as their first design hire and take ownership of the product experience end-to-end.

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for a senior designer who enjoys working hands-on in early-stage environments and wants to shape the design function from the ground up.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for defining and delivering the full product experience across both the physical and digital journey. Initially, this will be a highly hands-on role, working closely with product, engineering and leadership to design thoughtful, well-crafted experiences from concept through to launch.

Over time, you’ll have the opportunity to build and lead the design team as the company scales.

You’ll work across areas including:

• Onboarding and setup for a physical product
• Companion mobile app experiences
• Data and insight visualisation
• Engagement and lifecycle journeys
• Product discovery and UX strategy
• High-quality visual and interaction design

What They’re Looking For

They’re looking for someone who has experience designing products that bridge the physical and digital worlds. This could include connected devices, IoT products, or companies where the customer journey involves receiving and interacting with a physical product supported by a digital experience.

You’ll likely:

• Be comfortable working end-to-end across product design
• Have strong visual design and interaction design skills
• Enjoy working hands-on while also thinking strategically
• Have experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams
• Be interested in building and leading a design team over time
