AI systems like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini are becoming the new interface to the internet.

Instead of searching Google, users now ask AI.

But companies have no visibility into how AI models represent them.

Profound helps companies understand, monitor, and influence their AI presence across large language models.

Their platform analyzes large volumes of AI-generated responses and provides companies with insights into how they appear inside AI systems.

Profound is looking for a Backend Engineer to help build the infrastructure powering their AI analytics platform.

You will design scalable backend systems, build APIs that deliver real-time insights, and work on data pipelines that process large-scale datasets.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex infrastructure and data problems.

• Design and build backend systems powering AI analytics
• Develop scalable APIs that serve real-time insights
• Build and optimize large-scale data processing pipelines
• Work closely with data scientists and frontend engineers
• Ensure reliability, security, and performance across systems
• Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform scales

• Strong backend engineering experience (Node.js, Python, or Rust)
• Experience building scalable APIs and distributed systems
• Deep understanding of databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Experience designing efficient data pipelines
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong focus on performance, reliability, and security
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment

This is an on-site role in our NYC, SF or Buenos Aires office, designed for builders who thrive on speed, iteration, and meaningful impact. We are happy to support visa sponsorship for qualified international candidates.

For this role, the expected base salary range is $140,000 to $260,000 (NY). Comp may vary based on location. Profound’s total compensation package is designed to be competitive and includes base salary, equity, and a full range of benefits and perks. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and will be determined during the interview process.
