Job Description
The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for directing food safety, quality and sanitation programs at our Brooklyn, NY manufacturing site. This role ensures that all products meet food safety, customer, federal and state compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead quality and food safety programs and teams to meet company objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, State Health Departments, customer, and GFSI standards, including Seafood HACCP.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen food safety, quality, and regulatory performance.
- Lead and manage regulatory, customer, GFSI, and sustainability audits and inspections.
- Oversee supplier and vendor compliance programs at facility and corporate levels.
- Maintain and improve HACCP, SSOP, SOP, GMP, EMP, and pathogen control programs.
- Lead corrective actions related to audits, consumer complaints, and food safety or quality issues.
- Oversee sanitation programs, Master Sanitation Schedule, and food safety training.
- Manage finished product testing, including test-and-hold programs.
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, R&D, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Service to support compliant production and customer requirements.
- Analyze quality and complaint data, reporting trends, KPIs, and action plans to senior leadership.
- Manage the quality and food safety budget and ensure compliance for import/export activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of technical professionals, fostering a strong quality and food safety culture
- Deliver targeted training across production, maintenance, sanitation, and management teams
- Set clear performance expectations, goals, and provide ongoing, constructive feedback
- Conduct performance evaluations and coach employees to drive accountability and growth
- Manage employee discipline and terminations in accordance with company policies
- Champion and model the company’s core values, leading by example at all levels
What Makes You a Great Fit:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.5+ years of food manufacturing experience, with 3+ years in Quality/Technical roles.
- 3+ years of experience leading and mentoring teams.
- Hands-on experience in FDA- or USDA-regulated facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of food safety and quality systems, including GFSI standards (BRCG, SQF).
- Familiarity with or certification in USFDA Seafood HACCP preferred.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Collaborative leader with the ability to influence, communicate, and work cross-functionally.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Spanish proficiency a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint) with solid technical aptitude.
- Strong time management, reliability, and follow-through to consistently meet deadlines.
- Committed to completing all required training and maintaining standards of work.

Compensation Range: $115,000 - $130,000/annually.
Workspace Environment:
- Ability to spend up to 80% of work time in a plant environment, including cold (32–45°F) and wet conditions.
- Physically capable of bending, stretching, twisting, reaching, and climbing stairs to perform job duties and move throughout the facility.
- Able to reach above and below shoulder height to handle product.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50lbs.
- Able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform job duties safely.
