Role Overview
Lallemand Biofuels & Distilled Spirits (LBDS) is looking for a Process Engineer to join our team at the production facility in Wahpeton, North Dakota. In this role, you’ll help improve the safety, efficiency, and performance of our yeast manufacturing operations by working on process improvements and capital projects. You’ll collaborate with a variety of teams across the site to solve technical challenges, support new initiatives, and drive continuous improvements in our operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support capital projects (CAPEX) from design through installation, commissioning, and hand‑off, ensuring safety, budget, and timeline alignment.
- Optimize manufacturing processes across fermentation, utilities, sanitation, and packaging to improve efficiency, yield, reliability, and cost.
- Analyze process data and performance trends using control systems and analytical tools to troubleshoot issues and strengthen process control.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including process specifications, drawings, SOPs, and change‑control records.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers, supporting equipment selection, scope definition, and quality installation.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Production and Maintenance to support new technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing.
- 3–7 years of experience in process, manufacturing, or plant engineering.
- Strong process and operations expertise, including fermentation, utilities, CIP/SIP sanitation, packaging, mechanical systems, and the ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, and other technical documentation.
- Proficiency with industrial control and engineering tools, including DCS/HMI/SCADA systems, data analysis (data historians, Excel/BI), and experience managing project budgets, estimates, and cost control.
