SEO/GEO Strategist

Location: Fully remote in the US, must work EST/CST

Type: 6 month, 20 hour a week contract with potential for extension

Compensation Range: $50-$55/hr W2

Our client is seeking an experienced SEO/GEO strategist to act as a fractional search lead who supports our marketing team. This role will help establish the search architecture, technical foundation, and content strategy required to build sustainable non-branded SEO and AI search growth. The contractor will work alongside an internal content marketer who is responsible for producing SEO content. The focus of this role is strategic guidance, technical SEO oversight, and enabling scalable content production through strong search architecture and briefs.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct full technical audit (crawlability, indexation, page speed, mobile performance).
• Identify and prioritize technical fixes.
• Implement SEO improvements where possible within CMS.
• Guide internal teams & vendors on technical changes requiring engineering.
• Implement structured data and improve internal linking architecture Search Architecture.
• Lead keyword/prompt research and competitive analysis.
• Develop structured keyword/prompt → page mapping.
• Build topical clusters and authority hubs.
• Prioritize a mix of commercial- and consideration-intent search opportunities.

• Align SEO & AI Search roadmap with business growth objectives Content Enablement.
• Create SEO briefs for new content.
• Guide optimization of existing pages.
• Ensure semantic coverage, entity signals, and internal linking.
• Support development of high-authority evergreen content GEO / AI Search.
• Optimize content and site structure for AI search discovery.
• Improve visibility in generative search responses.
• Identify opportunities to increase citations and authority signals Measurement & Reporting.
• Establish ranking and traffic benchmarks.
• Monitor keyword performance.

Qualifications:

• Strong technical SEO background in Storybook.
• Demonstrated success building topical authority and ranking commercial keywords
• Experience working in headless or modern CMS environments (Storyblok or similar).
