Peterson Technology Partners (PTP) is a leading IT staffing, consulting, and recruiting firm with over 27 years of experience in delivering high-quality technology solutions. Headquartered in the Chicago suburb of Park Ridge, IL, PTP has built a reputation for trust, long-term partnerships, and technical excellence. Our team of more than 500 dedicated employees and consultants works closely with clients across various industries to identify and place top-tier IT talent. We are committed to fostering an inclusive, transparent, and human-centered hiring environment, leveraging innovative technologies to enhance the recruitment experience. As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity and equality, we ensure all candidates are evaluated fairly and without bias, adhering to the highest standards of ethical hiring practices.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quality Engineer to join our Payments Technology portfolio, specifically focusing on the Order Management System (OMS). This is a 100% remote position, requiring the candidate to work from 6PM IST to 3AM IST, with a workload of 40 hours per week on a contractual basis. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will play a vital role in enhancing and validating payment systems that support both in-store and online customer transactions. Your primary responsibility will revolve around existing OMS-Payments applications, including Billing, Payment Systems, Loyalty, Sales Audit, and General Ledger (GL) applications, which are currently on AS/400 and are slated for migration to Blue Yonder. You will lead end-to-end testing efforts, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide technical leadership to improve system performance and quality. Your expertise in core payment testing, automation, and AS/400 systems will be critical in supporting our transition to new payment providers and ensuring seamless transaction processing across multiple payment methods.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess at least 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering and Analysis, with a focus on payment systems and automation. You should have a strong understanding of payment gateways, transaction lifecycles—including Authorization, Capture, Settlement, Refunds, Chargebacks, and Reversals—and experience testing various payment methods such as credit/debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, BNPL, and rewards. Proficiency in API/Web Services testing using tools like Postman or REST APIs, along with database testing and SQL querying skills, is essential. Candidates should have extensive automation experience using frameworks such as Cucumber, Playwright, Rest Assured, or similar tools. Familiarity with BDD/TDD practices, CI/CD automation, and Agile methodologies is highly desirable. A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required, along with excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills. Experience working with vendor partners and cross-functional teams will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Quality Engineer, your responsibilities will encompass the entire testing lifecycle, including planning, development, execution, and reporting. You will develop a thorough understanding of end-to-end business processes and transaction flows across integrated systems. Your tasks will include creating and executing manual test scripts, sourcing and provisioning test data, analyzing defects, and ensuring compliance with testing strategies and documentation standards. You will automate regression test suites, design new automation frameworks, and enhance existing scripts to support application changes. Collaborating closely with Product Managers, Developers, and operational teams, you will ensure test scripts cover new functionalities and system enhancements. You will facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), providing guidance to business users and provisioning test data in lower environments. Additionally, you will perform initial defect triage, log issues in JIRA, and analyze production defects to prevent recurrence. Your expertise will help identify quality risks proactively and develop techniques to improve overall product quality. You will also maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects, providing accurate effort estimates, and preparing status reports. Working with offshore testing teams, you will validate data integrity through SQL queries, communicate technical requirements effectively, and generate test execution reports regularly.

Benefits

Peterson Technology Partners offers competitive compensation aligned with your experience, with an hourly rate ranging from $10 to $12. This role provides the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to work from anywhere while adhering to the specified IST working hours. You will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects within a dynamic team environment, gaining exposure to cutting-edge payment systems and migration initiatives. Our benefits include professional development opportunities, access to collaborative tools, and a supportive work culture that values diversity and inclusion. We also promote work-life balance and encourage continuous learning to help you advance your career in the technology domain.

Equal Opportunity

Peterson Technology Partners is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where all qualified applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. We believe in fostering an environment that promotes fairness, respect, and equal opportunity for everyone.
