System Engineer Level 4 (Manager equivalent level)
Portsmouth, New Hampshire

AL Solutions are partnering with a leading life sciences organization to hire a System Engineer IV for their site in Portsmouth, NH.
This is a senior, site-based engineering role supporting the computerized systems infrastructure behind process automation, QC laboratory systems, and wider operational technology environments. The successful individual will act as a key technical resource to operations, ensuring critical systems remain reliable, compliant, and fit for production needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide infrastructure support across servers, networks, workstations, storage, client devices, and operational systems
- Support systems used by Automation, Business Analytics, Quality Control, and site Operations
- Maintain system integrity and identify opportunities for performance, reliability, and security improvements
- Troubleshoot increasingly complex technical issues across production and laboratory systems
- Author and support execution of commissioning and test documentation
- Own and support change controls and related system updates
- Participate in root cause investigations (RCA) as a technical representative
- Review and revise SOPs, functional specifications, and work instructions in line with CAPAs, system changes, and continuous improvement activity

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or similar relevant experience
- 10+ years of experience applying IT/infrastructure principles within high-availability production and laboratory environments
- Prior experience in biotech, pharma, or other regulated manufacturing environments preferred
- Strong experience with Syncade troubleshooting and support - MUST
- Experience developing technical documentation for networks, interfaces, data conversion, and infrastructure environments
- Solid knowledge of Unix, Windows, and Linux operating systems
- Experience with Cisco network switching and monitoring tools
- Strong working knowledge of SQL Server and OSIsoft PI Systems
- Additional exposure to VBScript, .NET, and SQL programming preferred
- Experience with deployment, backup, and recovery tools such as Acronis, Backup Exec, Veeam, or similar
