Tooling Manager

Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a Tier 1 automotive supplier in South Charleston, WV, is seeking a Tooling Manager to lead their tooling operations. Tooling Manager Job Summary

• Location: South Charleston, WV
• Position Type: Operations Leader (Tooling Focus) – this is not a hands-on “wrench turner” role
• Direct and coordinate activities for tool design, development, manufacturing, and maintenance
• Oversee design and manufacture of gages and fixtures
• Ensure tools meet customer expectations and production requirements
• Serve as a member of management
• Maintain SAP and manage tooling KPIs
• Analyze tooling costs, downtime, and capacity to improve efficiency
• Implement quality, safety, and environmental standards
• Drive continuous improvement and operational performance initiatives

Tooling Manager Qualifications

• Technical degree or certification in Tool and Die or related field
• Minimum 10 years of directly related Tool and Die experience
• At least 5 years managing tooling personnel
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Experience with SAP or equivalent systems strongly preferred
• Knowledge of GD&T, CAD for die design, blueprint reading, CNC machine functions, CMM lab layouts, and blue/white light scanning
• Strong leadership and communication skills with a collaborative, positive management style
• Proven experience driving continuous improvement and operational performance

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Directly supervise tooling employees
• Interview, hire, and train employees
• Plan, assign, and direct work for tooling staff
• Appraise performance, provide feedback, and manage rewards or disciplinary actions
• Address complaints and resolve problems in accordance with company policies
• Ensure team follows quality, safety, and environmental standards
