Consumer and Community Involvement Manager

• Lead and coordinate Menzies’ Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI) strategy, fostering strong partnerships and continuous improvement across the Institute.
• Build and support meaningful relationships between researchers, consumers and communities while promoting CCI opportunities, achievements and training.
• Oversee key CCI functions including volunteer management, researcher support, communications, budgeting and advisory group engagement.
  
  

About The Opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a Consumer and Community Involvement Manager for the Menzies Institute for Medical Research (Menzies), University of Tasmania.

Fundamental to achieving our goals, you’ll champion Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI) by coordinating strategic initiatives, nurturing diverse relationships, and empowering researchers to embed strong consumer voices in every stage of their work. You’ll work closely with our Consumer Research Advisory Group, guide staff across the Institute, and elevate CCI achievements through dynamic storytelling across digital and public platforms.

Menzies is one of Australia’s leading health and medical research institutes. You will bring to the role proven strong commitment to community progress while fostering collaborative, empowering relationships built on emotional awareness and effective communication. You will be a leader who drives innovation by bringing people together to generate, develop and implement creative ideas in supportive, inclusive environments. In addition, you will bring to the role:

• Demonstrated passion for consumer and community involvement, with a proven track record of cultivating collaborative, productive and effective relationships.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
• High-level understanding, and successful application of consumer and community involvement principles and practice, preferably in a health or medical research environment.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication, presentation and reporting skills, and advocacy and diplomacy skills.
• Experience in the development of strategic and operational plans, with highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, show initiative, and work productively as part of a team. Experience leading or facilitating consumer and community workshops or similar events highly desirable.
• Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Powerpoint, internet and email preferably in Microsoft Office.
• Strong understanding of the ‘lived experience’ consumer and/or community members’ contributions to research and teaching programs.
• Experience working with Tasmanian Aboriginal Communities and culturally diverse communities, highly desirable.

Appointments to this role will be at HEO 8 with a total remuneration package of up to $152,033 comprising base salary within the range of $114,282 to $129,943 plus 17% super
