About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to play a critical role in advancing our data platform and analytics capabilities. This is a top-priority hire with direct visibility to leadership due to its impact on operational performance, safety, and strategic decision-making.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, build, and optimize scalable data solutions that power mission-critical insights across aviation and healthcare operations. You will work across the full data stack—from backend architecture to front-end visualization—enabling agile, high-impact analytics. You will also partner closely with stakeholders, mentor fellow engineers, and help shape how data is delivered, trusted, and used end-to-end.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and optimize scalable data pipelines and ELT workflows within Snowflake
• Build and maintain efficient data models to support agile analytics and reporting
• Develop and enhance Power BI dashboards for business stakeholders
• Implement automated monitoring and performance optimization across the data pipeline
• Leverage Snowflake features (including DBT and notebooks) to modernize the data ecosystem
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver predictive analytics and machine learning solutions
• Integrate complex data sources (e.g., safety, maintenance, weather) to drive operational insights
• Support initiatives aimed at improving flight readiness, safety outcomes, and resource optimization

• Mentor engineers and champion data quality, trust, and best practices end-to-end

Key Projects

• Predictive modeling for weather-related flight disruptions
• Root cause analysis of aircraft downtime using integrated operational data
• Automation and optimization of the ELT and data monitoring stack

Required Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Snowflake, including data modeling, performance tuning, and working within Snowflake's cloud data platform (required)
• Experience with DBT and modern ELT frameworks
• Advanced proficiency in Power BI for data visualization
• Solid experience in predictive analytics and/or machine learning
• Experience working within Azure-based data environments (not AWS)
• Proven ability to work across both data engineering and analytics layers
• Strong understanding of scalable data modeling and performance optimization
• Strong communication skills and experience working cross-functionally with stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with operational or real-time data environments
• Background in aviation, healthcare, or other high-reliability industries
• Familiarity with transitioning legacy ETL tools to modern data stacks
• Proficiency in SQL and Python
• Familiarity with BI and dashboarding tools beyond Power BI (e.g., Tableau, Looker)

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: ~$150,000
• Annual Bonus: Target 10% (historically strong payout performance)
• Fully remote with flexible work hours aligned to Mountain Time
• Preference for candidates in the Denver area for occasional in-person collaboration
