Position Location: Location varies by assignment. 75–100% travel across the U.S. unless assigned to an extended project. Must be located near a major US airport.
Job Summary
The VDC Manager II is a developing professional who serves as a key project resource supporting digital coordination, model quality, and multidisciplinary trade alignment across mission-critical construction projects. Acting as the owner’s and/or contractor’s representative for virtual design and construction workflows, this role helps ensure models, coordination processes, and field execution remain aligned with project scope, schedule, constructability, operability, and quality expectations.
The VDC Manager II will support model-based coordination from design through construction and turnover, working closely with project management, design teams, trade partners, field staff, and client stakeholders. This position is responsible for facilitating coordination meetings, managing clash detection workflows, supporting model population efforts, validating model status against field conditions, and helping drive issue resolution later in the construction process through trade engagement and field checks.
The VDC Manager II will receive limited direction on day-to-day work and general instruction on new projects, tasks, or assignments. Will execute and assist team leadership on projects, tasks, or assignments of complex scope. Will work independently or under limited supervision.
The VDC Manager II will communicate and operate in line with organizational and client goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.
Essential Functions
VDC / BIM Coordination and Digital Delivery
- Support development, management, and implementation of VDC execution workflows for mission-critical construction projects.
- Manage and maintain federated models to support trade coordination, clash detection, issue tracking, and construction planning.
- Facilitate BIM coordination efforts using Navisworks, ACC/BIM 360, and related digital tools to improve project visibility and team alignment.
- Track model progress, coordination actions, and outstanding issues to help maintain schedule adherence and resolution accountability.
- Coordinate model exchanges, file organization, version control, and digital documentation across internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner closely with project management and trade partners to support coordination meetings, action tracking, and resolution of constructability and installation conflicts.
- Work directly with trades during later-stage coordination and installation phases to validate model alignment with field conditions and planned execution.
- Perform field checks to identify discrepancies between model content, design intent, and installed work; communicate findings and support corrective action planning.
- Support coordination of above-ceiling routing, access clearances, equipment placement, sequencing, and maintainability considerations.
- Help drive communication between design, project management, field teams, and trade contractors to reduce rework and improve readiness.
- Supporting coordination readiness reviews and contributing to area or system signoff discussions by validating model completeness, clash resolution, and field alignment.
- Design Interface and Model Population Awareness
- Review drawings, models, and design information to identify gaps, interferences, and coordination risks early in the project lifecycle.
- Support model population planning by understanding scope maturity, trade inputs, and timing required for accurate and usable model development.
- Leverage prior design exposure, when applicable, to improve understanding of model completeness, detailing effort, and discipline coordination needs.
- Assist in translating design intent into practical coordination workflows that support construction means, methods, and field execution.
- Documentation, Reporting, and Controls
- Maintain clash reports, model issue logs, meeting minutes, coordination trackers, and related project documentation.
- Provide concise and organized updates regarding model status, trade engagement, issue resolution progress, and coordination readiness.
- Support dashboarding, digital reporting, and document traceability using project platforms and standard office tools.
- Supporting model validation and documentation efforts that contribute to as built records, including coordination inputs, field verification notes, and model updates.
- Technology, Innovation, and Process Improvement
- Promote consistent use of digital tools and model-based workflows across project teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve VDC standards, coordination efficiency, and reporting quality.
- Leverage AI-enabled and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and contribute to continuous improvement across the organization.

Position Requirements (ADVANCED level for all the following)
- Strong working knowledge of VDC coordination processes, model federation, clash detection, and issue tracking in construction environments.
- Knowledge of industry trends, project management practices, and construction procedures as well as best practices.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction of mission critical, commercial buildings, or other structures.
- Knowledge of trade coordination principles and the relationship between design documentation, model development, and field execution.
- Skilled in Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC/BIM 360) for model review, clash detection, issue management, and coordination workflows.
- Skilled in supporting project management efforts through trade coordination, meeting facilitation, follow-up tracking, and field verification.
- Skilled in working directly with trades and field teams to resolve coordination issues later in the construction process.
- Skilled in reviewing drawings and models for constructability, access, sequencing, and maintainability concerns.
- Skilled in clear, concise communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management.
- Ability to understand model population effort, coordination maturity, and the practical impact of design decisions on constructability and sequencing.
- Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation.
- Ability to follow company and site safety requirements.
- Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence.
- Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines.

- 75–100% travel across the U.S. unless assigned to an extended project (>6 months; typical assignments 9 months – 4 years).
- Ability to relocate within 1–3 months if required (when 100% travel isn’t supported).
- Effective May 7, 2025, and in accordance with U.S. federal regulations for domestic air travel, a valid REAL ID (or an acceptable alternative, such as a passport) is required for travel associated with this position.
- Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meetings for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.

- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, digital construction, or related discipline
- OR
- Two years of hands-on construction, trade coordination, BIM/VDC, design support, or field technology experience
- Minimum of five years of additional related experience supporting BIM/VDC, project coordination, design integration, construction technology, or field coordination activities.
