Hiring Senior DevOps / MLOps / Data Engineer (Azure) in Ontario, Fully Remote

Location: Fully Remote

Compensation: $90.00/hr (T4) – $105.00/hr (INC)

Start Date: April 13, 2026

Contract Duration: 8 months to start, with the potential of extension

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps / MLOps / Data Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud-native data and AI platforms on Microsoft Azure.

This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role where you will drive:

• Enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines
• AI/ML model deployment into production
• Scalable data engineering solutions
• Secure, cost-optimized cloud infrastructure

You will collaborate across DevOps, Data Engineering, and Machine Learning teams to deliver production-ready, high-performance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

DevOps, Deployment & MLOps (Primary Focus)

• Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Git, and YAML
• Manage end-to-end deployment pipelines across Dev, QA, and Production environments
• Lead deployment of AI/ML models into production using automated pipelines
• Implement model lifecycle management (training, validation, deployment, monitoring)
• Automate infrastructure using ARM, Bicep, or Terraform
• Develop scalable API-based inference endpoints
• Implement release strategies, versioning, rollback, and environment parameterization
• Monitor model performance, drift, and retraining strategies
• Ensure platform reliability, monitoring, and incident response

Data Engineering

• Design and build data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and ADLS
• Develop and optimize data models in Azure SQL, SQL Server, and Oracle
• Implement ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale data processing
• Support medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers)
• Ensure data quality, governance, and performance optimization

Security & Compliance

• Implement secure cloud architecture using RBAC, Managed Identities, and Key Vault
• Secure data pipelines and ML endpoints (encryption, private endpoints, network controls)
• Manage secrets, credentials, and access policies
• Ensure compliance with data protection and governance standards
• Optimize cloud cost usage across compute, storage, and Databricks
• Implement auto-scaling, right-sizing, and cost governance strategies

🔗 API & Integration

• Design and build REST APIs for data and model inference
• Develop integration patterns across internal and external systems
• Enable real-time and batch processing integrations
• Implement API security (authentication, throttling, versioning)
• Support event-driven architectures and messaging systems

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT experience
• 5+ years in DevOps / MLOps / Data Engineering

Strong expertise in:

• Azure ecosystem (ADF, Databricks, ADLS, Azure SQL)

Proven experience:

• Deploying AI/ML models into production

• Experience with Azure AI Search / Azure AI Foundry
• Exposure to event-driven architecture (Event Grid, Service Bus)
• Experience with Kafka or Event Hubs
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and AKS
• Experience with LLMs / Generative AI pipelines
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks
