Tech Lead Java Developer for Back-end Website Applications

For an European institution in Brussels, Belgium, we are looking for a hybrid Tech Lead Java for the development of back-end website applications using AWS environment and KIRO (agentic AI-powered Integrated Development Environment (IDE)).

Candidates need to be based within 2 hours of Brussels or willing to relocate.

Candidates need to be fluent in English. A work permit is required, but not provided. This position is open for contractors. As candidates, need to have Security clearance, this role is only open for European candidates.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Development of back-end website applications using AWS environment and KIRO (agentic AI-powered Integrated Development Environment (IDE));
• Integration of user-facing elements developed by a front-end developers with server side logic;
• Implement core business logic;
• Creation of servers and databases for functionality;
• Design and implementation of data storage solutions;
• Understanding and implementation of security and data protection;

• Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability;
• Design and develop APIs;
• Participating in the design and creation of scalable software;
• Taking lead on projects, as needed;
• Maintenance of code integrity and organisation;
• Writing clean, functional code on the back-end;
• Compile and analyse data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement;
• Testing and fixing bugs or other coding issues;
• Meet both technical and consumer needs;
• Write technical documentation;

Profile:

• Bachelor or Master degree;
• +8 years of Java development experience;
• +5 years of Lead experience;
• Excellent knowledge of HTTP and API design;
• Excellent knowledge of JEE and REST or SOAP APIs;
• Excellent knowledge of Java and Angular;
• Excellent knowledge of asynchronous communication and publish/subscribe techniques and technologies: JMS & Kafka;
• Excellent knowledge of integration testing best practices;
• Proficiency with back-end languages and frameworks such as Java, PHP, Spring boot and Hibernate;
• Fluent English;
