Role: Senior Environment Artist

Unreal Engine – Mobile & Console

Location: Work From Office – On Site


This is a full-time, on-site position. Domestic and international applicants are welcome. For international candidates, relocation support including visa and work permit assistance will be provided.

About the Role

As a Senior Environment Artist, you are a master of world-building and spatial storytelling. You will take 2D concepts and transform them into breathtaking 3D environments that define the player's journey. You are a technical pillar of the art team, balancing high-fidelity visual aesthetics with the rigorous performance requirements of AAA cross-platform development. You will bridge the gap between Level Design and Final Art, ensuring our worlds are as functional as they are beautiful.

Responsibilities

  • World Building & Layout: Lead the creation of immersive, high-fidelity 3D environments, from sprawling natural landscapes to intricate urban interiors.
  • Modular Workflow: Architect and implement efficient modular kits and prop libraries that allow for rapid world-building while maintaining visual variety.
  • Asset Creation: Own the end-to-end pipeline for high-quality environment assets, including high-poly modeling, sculpting, retopology, UV mapping, and PBR texturing.
  • Technical Integration: Integrate assets into Unreal Engine 5, managing level composition, world partition, and initial lighting setups.
  • Performance & Optimization: Own the technical health of your environments. Profile and optimize draw calls, vertex counts, and texture memory to ensure 60FPS performance on both consoles and mobile.
  • Material & Shader Mastery: Collaborate with Technical Artists to develop and apply complex PBR materials and shaders that enhance environmental realism.
  • Level Design Collaboration: Partner closely with Level Designers to ensure that artistic beauty never compromises gameplay flow, player metrics, or navigation (NavMesh).
  • Technical Mentorship: Drive high standards through detailed asset reviews, technical documentation, and hands-on guidance for Junior and Mid-level environment artists.
  • R&D: Stay at the forefront of industry trends, proactively integrating UE5 features like Nanite and Lumen into the production workflow.


Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional game development experience, with at least 3 years in a Senior Environment role.
  • Shipped Titles: At least one shipped AAA or high-fidelity AA title on Console (PS5/Xbox) or PC.
  • Technical Depth: Expert-level proficiency in Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender, along with ZBrush for high-poly sculpting.
  • Texturing Mastery: Expert knowledge of Substance Painter/Designer and PBR rendering workflows.
  • Engine Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 (Level Editor, Blueprints for environment actors, and Material Editor).
  • Artistic Eye: Strong foundation in composition, color theory, and lighting to guide the player's eye through a scene.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to break down massive environment tasks into actionable sprints and provide accurate production estimates.
  • Language: Professional fluency in English; ability to communicate artistic vision to technical and creative stakeholders.


Nice to Have

  • Experience developing for Open-World titles (HLODs, foliage systems, and landscape painting).
  • Background in Architecture or Industrial Design.
  • Knowledge of Houdini or procedural content generation (PCG) workflows.
