Job Title: Manager, Payroll

Region: North America (US & Canada)

Relocation: Available

Duration โ€“ 3 months contract with possibility of Extension

Pay rate - $75 - $80/ hour

Shift - 1st shift

Work Location- Decatur, Illinois, USA, 62526


๐Ÿ’ผ Role Summary

Lead end-to-end North America payroll operations (18K employees), ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely multi-cycle payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees. Drive service quality, compliance (SOX), operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across payroll functions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle payroll (US & Canada) including:
  • Payroll processing, taxes, garnishments
  • General ledger & reconciliations
  • Vendor management
  • Oversee payroll team performance, mentoring, and development
  • Ensure SOX compliance, audits, and regulatory adherence
  • Partner with: HR, HRIS, Finance, Tax, Accounting teams
  • Handle: Payroll reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly, year-end)
  • W-2s, tax filings, payroll deposits
  • Maintain payroll documentation, controls, and system updates
  • Lead process improvements and system enhancements (e.g., SuccessFactors/Employee Central)
  • Act as escalation point for complex payroll issues


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in-house payroll experience
  • Experience managing full-cycle payroll operations


Strong knowledge of:

  • Payroll tax
  • Accounting & compliance
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree (or equivalent)
  • Experience with HRIS systems (SuccessFactors / Employee Central preferred)
  • People management experience (leading teams)


Preferred / Nice to Have

  • SOX compliance & audit experience
  • Payroll system implementation/enhancement experience
  • Manufacturing or hourly workforce exposure
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
