Director of Benefits (Hybrid | Houston, TX)
A large, complex healthcare organization is seeking a Director of Benefits to lead the strategy, design, and administration of enterprise-wide benefit programs. This role will oversee retirement, health & welfare, and wellness programs while ensuring compliance, cost-effectiveness, and a strong employee value proposition.
This is a hybrid position based in Houston, TX (relocation required).
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the design, implementation, and administration of comprehensive benefits programs
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and related regulations
- Manage vendors, brokers, consultants, and external partners
- Partner with HR leadership to align benefits with total rewards strategy
- Oversee and develop a high-performing benefits team
- Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and reporting/ROI metrics
- Serve as escalation point for complex benefits issues

Must-Haves:
- 10+ years of experience in benefits leadership within a large, complex organization (healthcare or multi-entity preferred)
- Deep expertise in health & welfare and retirement plans (401k, 403b, pension, non-qualified plans)
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA
- Experience managing vendors, brokers, and external partners
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
- Experience working with HRIS systems and benefits administration tools
- Bachelor’s degree required
