Develop and integrate Generative AI solutions, including LLM-based workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, and autonomous agents.
Translate business and user needs into machine learning problem statements, metrics, and experimental designs.
Implement data pipelines and feature engineering workflows to support model training and inference.
Evaluate model performance, identify bias, monitor drift, and ensure reliability; iterate based on findings.
Collaborate with software engineers to integrate models into APIs, services, and user-facing applications.
Contribute to architecture decisions related to model serving, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Document methodologies, assumptions, and tradeoffs to facilitate maintainability and knowledge sharing.

About The Role

We are seeking an Applied AI/ML Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying practical AI-powered solutions that address real-world problems faced by federal agencies. You will work at the intersection of research and engineering, applying modern machine learning and Generative AI techniques to production systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, enjoys shipping high-quality code, and can balance technical rigor with real-world constraints. Collaboration with cross-functional teams—including engineers, designers, and product stakeholders—is essential to translate ambiguous challenges into scalable, reliable AI-driven capabilities. Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in machine learning concepts, including model selection, training, validation, and evaluation
  • Experience building and deploying machine learning models in real-world applications
  • Proficiency in Python and common ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and scikit-learn
  • Experience working with large language models, embeddings, and prompt-driven systems
  • Familiarity with data processing tools and workflows such as Pandas, SQL, Spark, or similar
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices, including version control, testing, and code reviews
  • Ability to reason about tradeoffs between accuracy, latency, cost, and maintainability
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Authorized to work in the United States
