nio rio is a NYC-based Web Design & Webflow Development agency taking on exciting projects and looking for a talented designer to join us on a long-term contract basis. Fully remote, open to worldwide applicants ($40-50/hr USD)
About the Role
You'll collaborate closely with our team and clients to turn brand goals and user needs into beautiful, high-converting websites. This is a hands-on design role with opportunities to contribute ideas, iterate quickly, and see your work built.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with clients and our team to understand project vision and translate it into compelling, standout designs
- Create wireframes, low-fi and high-fi mockups, and polished visuals
- Design responsive, accessible layouts with thoughtful typography, color systems, animations, and micro-interactions
- Prepare clean design assets for smooth handoff to developers
- Iterate based on feedback and proactively suggest creative improvements
- Stay up to date with design trends and help strengthen our shared design systems

Requirements
- Strong portfolio showcasing original, high-quality websites (link to website, Figma file, or PDF is fine)
- Mastery of Figma (Adobe Suite is a plus)
- Solid grasp of UI/UX principles, responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), and modern web best practices
- Good working knowledge of HTML/CSS; experience with Webflow is a strong advantage
- Excellent English communication skills — you can present ideas clearly and incorporate feedback gracefully
- Comfortable with design systems and micro-interactions (bonus: motion design or Lottie)
- Proactive, collaborative, and excited to learn while delivering buildable, high-quality work
