About Altur
We are building what essentially is an ultra-efficient call center powered purely by AI agents. We process hundreds of thousands of AI-powered voice and WhatsApp conversations every day for some of Latin America's most important financial institutions.
Our entire stack, from telephony and real-time voice pipelines to LLM orchestration, is built in-house by a small team. That's our edge: we ship and iterate faster than companies 10x our size. But we're reaching the point where "move fast" needs to coexist with "build to last," and that's why this role exists.
We're YC-backed, profitable, and growing fast. We need someone who's as obsessed with clean architecture as they are with shipping.
About the role
We're looking for a senior engineer to join our core team in Mexico City and help shape Altur's product architecture and engineering culture as we scale.
You’ll work directly with the founders on a daily basis. We value engineers who challenge our technical decisions, take initiative and push us to do things the best way possible.
What you will do
- Ship daily and see your code live the next day.
- Design the architecture for real-time voice pipelines handling thousands of concurrent calls.
- Own the reliability and scaling of core infrastructure, Kafka event pipelines, Redis, telephony services.
- Shape how we integrate LLMs into production systems with low latency and high accuracy.
- Help build engineering culture from the ground up, code review standards, CI/CD practices, architecture patterns, and mentoring as we grow from 4 to 15+ engineers.
- Talk directly with our banking clients, understand their constraints, and translate that into product decisions.
- Help assemble a world-class engineering team: you'll be one of the earliest members and have a direct say in who we hire and how we work.
You'll be a good fit if
- You've helped scale an engineering team and codebase from early-stage to production-grade.
- You have 4+ years of experience as a software engineer working with a similar stack.
- You're obsessed with code quality, clear patterns, and the real-world results your code produces.
- You enjoy solving hard problems, writing efficient code, and shipping polished, end-to-end features.
- You enjoy solving hard, ambiguous problems and can learn fast without hand-holding (we don't expect you to know everything on day 1).
- You want high impact and ownership.

Must haves
- Strong experience with Python and SQL databases.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (bonus if AWS).
- Proven ability to design, build and scale secure production systems.
- Knowledge of CI/CD best practices, with the ability to identify possible improvements.
- Experience using Docker and Git.
Big plus if
- You have experience with Django and Postgres.
- You have worked on real-time voice or telephony systems.
- You are proficient in Go.
- You have experience scaling high-traffic, low-latency systems.
- You have used Apache Kafka in production.
