Our extensive network and dedicated team enable us to deliver tailored recruitment solutions that meet the evolving demands of the marketplace.

About The Role

We are currently seeking a skilled Android Engineer to join a forward-thinking technology company that develops intelligent mobility platforms used by major public transport operators globally. This remote role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge mobile SDKs that form the backbone of their mobility solutions. The successful candidate will be instrumental in enhancing the core SDK, which integrates into partner applications, facilitating seamless location tracking, sensor data processing, background services, and reliable APIs. This position is ideal for engineers passionate about working close to the platform layer, tackling complex mobile engineering challenges at scale, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions that improve urban mobility.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Android development with proficiency in Kotlin and Java. Experience with complex mobile systems such as SDKs, frameworks, or large-scale applications is essential. Familiarity with reactive programming paradigms like RxJava, as well as a deep understanding of asynchronous programming and multithreading, is highly desirable. Candidates should have comprehensive knowledge of Android architecture components and platform capabilities, along with experience working with APIs and network-based mobile services. Additionally, excellent communication skills and fluency in English are required to collaborate effectively within agile teams. Nice-to-have qualifications include experience with location services, sensors, Bluetooth technologies, cross-platform development, cloud services, backend integration, or an interest in on-device intelligence and machine learning.

Responsibilities

The successful Android Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing advanced features within the mobile SDK using Kotlin and Java. They will address complex challenges related to location tracking, background processing, sensor data management, and mobile performance optimization. Building reliable APIs and developer tools that integrate seamlessly into partner applications will be a core task. Collaboration with cross-functional teams—including mobile, backend, and infrastructure engineers—is vital to ensure cohesive system architecture and performance. The engineer will also work closely with partners during SDK integration, providing technical support and ensuring smooth deployment at scale. Continual improvement of system architecture, testing practices, security protocols, and developer experience will be ongoing priorities to maintain a robust and reliable platform.

Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary of up to £90,000, reflecting the expertise and experience of the successful candidate. The position is fully remote, providing flexibility to work from anywhere, alongside flexible working hours to promote work-life balance. Additional benefits may include health insurance, professional development opportunities, and a supportive work environment designed to foster innovation and career growth. The company values its employees and strives to create an inclusive culture where talent can thrive and make a meaningful impact on urban mobility solutions worldwide.
