Project Overview
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.
Job Summary
The IS&T Field Infrastructure, Network Engineering Lead provides technical leadership for field communications services and supporting communications infrastructure for the Poland AP1000 nuclear project. Reporting to the IS&T Infrastructure Operations Manager, this role leads Field Infrastructure specialists and ensures communications systems are deployed, operated, and supported in accordance with project requirements, enterprise standards, and regulatory expectations.
The position is responsible for coordinating resolution of complex communications issues, supporting reliable and secure connectivity, and maintaining effective collaboration with IS&T teams to support engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for field communications services, including network, voice, wireless, private cellular (PCN), and site connectivity systems.
- Lead and coordinate Field Infrastructure specialists, providing daily work direction, technical guidance, and mentoring.
- Coordinate with Helpdesk and local support teams to resolve communications issues that require advanced technical expertise.
- Support development and implementation of communications designs by contributing field input and validating execution approaches.
- Deploy, configure, and support LAN/WAN, wireless networks, private cellular networks, voice and collaboration platforms, and support communications infrastructure.
- Support core services impacting communications operations, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, identity and access management, and related components.
- Monitor communications performance, availability, and compliance; identify risks and coordinate corrective actions.
- Lead field level response to communications outages and degradations, including troubleshooting, recovery, and root cause analysis.
- Support implementation of communications security controls in alignment with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and nuclear project standards.
- Coordinate with corporate and global business unit IS&T teams to implement enterprise communications solutions.
- Support infrastructure planning, vendor coordination, lifecycle activities, and IS&T automation initiatives related to communications services.
- Travel intermittently to other project locations in Poland as required.

- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check including verification of employment, education, and travel.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise communications and networking, including LAN/WAN, routing (BGP, OSPF), VLANs, MPLS, wireless, voice, and collaboration platforms.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership to infrastructure specialists in regulated project environments.
- Hands on experience deploying and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, voice platforms, and communications infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of private LTE/5G (PCN) and integration with enterprise networks.
- Solid understanding of core infrastructure services, including Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and identity services.
- Experience supporting hybrid and cloud connectivity (Azure, AWS, SD WAN).
- Strong troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis skills.
- Working knowledge of ITIL / ITSM processes and structured incident management workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills appropriate for nuclear project execution environments.
- Preferred Certifications: CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
