About the Role
We are hiring a Scala Software Engineer to join a leading organization in the Information Services and Data Analytics industry. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working on distributed systems, large-scale data pipelines, and cloud-based architectures.
You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable services that process high volumes of data across cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Scala-based data processing systems
- Build and optimize end-to-end data pipelines
- Work with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure (AWS / GCP)
- Integrate with services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and PostgreSQL
- Ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability of applications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on architecture and implementation
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in cloud-based, distributed environments

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Scala (must-have)
- Experience with functional programming concepts
- Experience with data pipeline development and data processing systems
- Hands-on experience with:
- Google BigQuery
- Google Dataflow
- PostgreSQL / SQL
- Kubernetes
- Experience working with AWS and/or GCP
- Experience with JSON processing (e.g., Circe)
- Experience with asynchronous/concurrent programming (FS2, cats-effect)
- Experience with distributed messaging systems (e.g., Google Pub/Sub)
- Strong experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
- Solid testing experience (unit, integration, component testing)

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Finagle or similar RPC frameworks

Education & Experience

- 3+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in data engineering or backend systems
