Backend Engineer (Early Team) – High Growth AI Startup

We’re working with a well-funded, early-stage technology company building a new approach to how complex, real-world workflows are automated and executed.

The business has reached strong early traction, is growing rapidly, and is backed by top-tier investors. They are now hiring a backend engineer to join a small, high-performing team and help build the core platform from the ground up.

The Role

This is not a typical backend role.

You’ll be working directly on the core system that powers the product, owning problems end-to-end and shipping production code from day one.

You will:

• Build and scale backend systems and APIs
• Design and own core infrastructure and data models
• Develop and optimize PostgreSQL and data pipelines

• Work with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and containerized environments
• Integrate AI/LLM-driven workflows into real production systems
• Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform evolves

What They’re Looking For

• Strong backend engineering experience (Python preferred)
• Experience building and shipping production systems
• Solid understanding of system design and scalable architectures
• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar databases
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP, Docker, and modern API design (REST / GraphQL)
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment

Nice to have:

• Experience with LLMs, RAG pipelines, or AI-enabled products
• Background in early-stage or high-growth startups
