A product‑led technology business is hiring a Senior QA Engineer to take ownership of quality across their mobile application and supporting services.

This is a greenfield QA role. There’s no existing test framework, no established QA function and no inherited way of working. You’ll be responsible for shaping how QA is done, choosing the tooling, defining standards and embedding quality into the development process.

The role is heavily focused on mobile, with iOS as the primary platform. Quality on mobile is critical to how the product is delivered and evolved.

This role sits in a React Native environment and is mobile‑first with a strong iOS focus.

You must have worked commercially with Detox on React Native applications. This is a hard requirement and not something that can be flexed.

If you have not used Detox in a real production environment, this role will not be a fit.

Experience with XCUITest is a nice to have, but Detox experience is the priority.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing and building automated test coverage across iOS, Android, web and APIs
• Owning mobile automation in CI, including simulator management, parallelisation and flake reduction
• Building and maintaining payment testing for edge cases such as declines, 3DS flows, failed transactions and network issues
• Working closely with engineers to ensure testability is built in upfront
• Defining QA standards across the team (automation strategy, mocking approach, handling flaky tests)
• Owning the defect lifecycle and ensuring quality gates are part of every release

What you’ll need

• Strong commercial experience in mobile QA, with an iOS‑first focus
• Hands‑on, real‑world Detox experience in React Native apps
• (including diagnosing and fixing synchronisation issues, not just writing basic tests)
• A solid understanding of how Detox determines app idle state and where it typically breaks
• Experience running mobile automation in CI environments (GitHub Actions, Bitrise or similar)
• Confidence testing complex payment scenarios in automated pipelines
• API and contract testing experience
• Good understanding of test doubles and when to use mocks, stubs or spies in a mobile context

Nice to have

• XCUITest experience (accessibility identifiers, launch arguments, keychain seeding)
• Experience in high‑transaction or consumer‑facing products
